Another entry for the weekly #NateWouldLikeToSee contest on Twitter. The subject this week was "unnecessary sequels."

I did all the blacks with ink and brush, no pencils. First time I've tried that, and it was kind of harrowing, not being able to trace over a fixable first layer. Finished in watercolors, and added the text in Photoshop.

The Phantom...IN SPACE!

Another piece done for the Nate Would Like to See challenge. This week's theme was characters not usually set in space, in space. The Phantom's usually stomping ground is the jungles of Africa, so... I read the strip when I was a kid, but I couldn't remember who he fought--probably poachers or something--so I drew a space gorilla instead. A Space Ape, if you will. The pencils were done on separate sheets for each character, and then I inked them onto tracing paper, which I then scanned and finished up in Photoshop.
